Mobile exhibitions
The mobile exhibitions are travelling versions of the exhibitions at the Musée National de l’Histoire de l’Immigration and Tropical Aquarium, in a lighter format adapted to suit a variety of spaces.
Designed for young audiences and adults alike, their goal is to disseminate the scientific knowledge covered in the Palais’ programming on a broader level, making its content accessible to audiences in remote locations. They also foster interaction between this content and local collections, along with research and projects being conducted elsewhere, both in France and abroad.
Accessible to structures of all kinds, the mobile exhibitions complete a broad range of educational and cultural tools through which the Palais helps its audience discover key subjects in contemporary society, both on- and off-site.
Palais de la Porte Dorée: off-site exhibitions
The Palais de la Porte Dorée is a historic monument in Paris that witnessed French colonial history and is now home to the Musée National de l'Histoire de l'Immigration and the Tropical Aquarium. The cultural site is open to all types of public, with the purpose of informing debates on contemporary issues and attitudes to migration, climate disruption, and questions relating to identity and memory.
Coming soon in 2026
Starting June: Migrations & climate. How to inhabit our world?
Climate change now affects every region of the world. Across the planet the links between environment and migrations, whether locally or internationally, are raising many questions. This complex link has become a major research topic over recent decades.
At the same time retrospective, current and prospective, the exhibition situates the relationship between migrations and climate over a long period of time to oppose certain common preconceptions and measure the complexity of the subject, including the challenges generated by the impact of human activity. It also presents answers and solutions, whether they come from the populations concerned or from international organisations.
Starting September : An exhibition designed around the European research project Undeterred (Unintentional Discrimination detected and Racism Revealed and Deactivated) on structural discrimination in public policy and in the everyday lives of young people.

In the Île-de-France region, from January to June, civic service volunteers lead free guided sessions at the venues hosting the traveling exhibitions. These sessions take the form of a discussion with the public about the exhibition (50 minutes) or, for certain themes, an educational workshop (1 to 2 hours). Your active participation in the discussion is welcome!
It is also possible to request a guided session as part of a loan.
Requests for guided sessions should be made by email a few weeks before the loan dates.
Mobile exhibitions are available as printable files.
The Palais de la Porte Dorée will send files for printing free of charge, and will cover copyright transfers for an agreed-upon period of time. Printing and translation costs must be covered by the partner establishment.
Partners may create additional exhibition panels using a template provided by the Palais. These panels can be on specific local history, a portrait…

Mobile exhibitions are adaptable tools that can be integrated into broader cultural projects on the history and memory of immigration, or serve as a base for the launch of new initiatives: class projects in the academic environment, conference programming, film screenings or shows, organisation of collections of testimonials and objects on different scales, or publishing of documents or catalogues...
In order to facilitate the development of these projects, the Musée National de l’Histoire de l’Immigration has made a set of tools and resources available on its website based around each mobile exhibition: mediation kits, workshops, programming, bibliographies and filmographies, video clips...
The Museum can also play an advisory role and help with the promotion of projects in a more individualised way, for each initiative.
